🌸 Wealthy Wednesday: The Wealth We Cultivate in Relationships 🌸

Celebrating the birth of my son, Mookie!

Beautiful Soul,

Today is a very special day for me.

Thirty years ago today, I gave birth to my son, Mookie. I sometimes think of his birthday as my birthing day too—the day he came into this world and the day I became his mother.

For 30 years, Mookie has been one of the greatest joys of my life. He has also been one of my greatest teachers, inspirations, and sources of pride.

And today, as I celebrate him, he is on his way to Wyoming to fight wildfires as a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service.

As a mother, there is both pride and tenderness in watching your child grow into his own life. You spend years nurturing, protecting, teaching, and loving them—and then one day, you realize that they have also been shaping you all along.

Mookie has taught me so much about love, courage, letting go, and trusting the person he has become.

It reminds me that some of the greatest wealth we will ever experience cannot be measured by the numbers in our bank accounts.

Our relationships are part of our wealth.

But meaningful relationships do not simply happen. Like wealth, they are cultivated.

We cultivate them by being present.

By making time.

By listening.

By expressing our appreciation while the people we love are here to receive it.

By celebrating birthdays, milestones, ordinary dinners, phone calls, laughter, accomplishments, and even the difficult seasons we walk through together.

Relationships require investment—not always of money, but of our attention, energy, vulnerability, forgiveness, and love.

And perhaps that is one of life's most beautiful invitations: to stop waiting for a special occasion to tell people how much they mean to us.

So today, I celebrate my son.

Mookie, I am beyond grateful that 30 years ago you chose me to be your mother. Watching you become the man you are today has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

As you travel to Wyoming to serve and protect others, may you be safe, guided, and protected every step of the way.

And to you, Beautiful Soul, I invite you to ask:

Who are the people who make your life truly rich?

Reach out to one of them today. Tell them what they mean to you. Celebrate them—not someday, but now.

Because wealth isn't only something we accumulate.

It is also the love we cultivate, the relationships we nurture, and the lives we are privileged to touch along the way.

With love and gratitude,
